Skoda recorded 6,886 units in April 2026 while Volkswagen managed a total of 2,828 units with both brands experiencing YoY decline
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India saw SUVs remaining as the primary volume drivers while sedan sales stayed rather underwhelming. Combined, both Skoda and Volkswagen posted lower month-on-month sales during the month of April 2026 but select SUV nameplates managed healthy year-on-year growth for the duo.
Skoda India registered total sales of 6,886 units in April 2026 compared to 7,302 units during the same month last year with a 6 per cent decline. On a month-on-month basis too, the Czech brand recorded a 13 per cent dip from the 7,928 units sold in March 2026. Despite the decline, the Kylaq continued to stay at the top of Skoda’s volume chart.
The Kylaq was the company’s highest-selling product with 4,089 units last month. However, the compact SUV experienced a 24 per cent year-on-year drop and a 12 per cent month-on-month decline. Despite that, it contributed nearly 60 per cent of Skoda’s total domestic volumes in April.

The Kushaq emerged as the standout performer for the brand with 1,851 units. The midsize SUV posted a huge 136 per cent year-on-year growth but its monthly volumes fell by 20 per cent compared to March 2026. Meanwhile, the Slavia sedan faced headwinds amid weakening sedan demand across the market.
Sales stood at 830 units – down 21 per cent year-on-year and 6 per cent month-on-month. At the premium end, the Kodiaq recorded 116 units and posted an 81 per cent jump over March 2026 volumes. Volkswagen India, on the other hand, sold 2,828 units in April 2026 against 2,851 units during April last year.

While yearly decline remained marginal at 1 per cent, the brand saw an 8 per cent fall over March 2026. The Taigun was Volkswagen’s best-selling model with 1,543 units as it posted 34 per cent year-on-year growth and a massive 70 per cent month-on-month jump. In contrast, the Virtus sedan witnessed a massive decline.
Sales dropped to 1,162 units from 1,605 units a year ago while monthly dispatches declined by 42 per cent.Volkswagen’s recently introduced Tayron contributed 87 units during while the Tiguan managed 34 units. The imported Golf hatchback remained a limited product with only two units dispatched last month.
