New Toyota Hilux gets a myriad of cosmetic updates and revisions inside the cabin; based on evolved version of IMV architecture
Dealer level inputs indicate that the new generation Hilux will launch in India on July 28, 2026. It gets a host of revisions inside and out as the front end abandons the conservative look associated with the outgoing model in favour of a wider visual stance. Slim lighting elements, a blacked-out connecting panel and prominent branding create a face that shares little with the pickup currently sold in India. Squared wheel housings, a taller shoulder line and more pronounced body surfacing will also be present.
The pickup truck continues to ride on an evolved IMV ladder frame platform but significant revisions have been carried out underneath. Better body control, improved rideability and enhanced off-road behaviour are among the benefits listed. The pickup can carry loads approaching one tonne while towing duties extend to 3.5 tonnes.
Water crossings measuring up to 700 mm and generous ground clearance figures further consolidate its credentials away from paved surfaces. Global markets already receive the familiar 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with 48-volt assistance in certain versions. The power unit develops 204 PS and 500 Nm while channeling output through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new lifestyle pickup boasts an upgraded interior too courtesy of the existence of large digital twin displays replacing conventional instrumentation while the dashboard gets a more passenger vehicle oriented layout taking inspiration from latest Land Cruisers. Wireless smartphone integration, ventilated front seats, connected functions, panoramic camera tech and driver assistance systems will be other highlights.
Certain overseas regions already have access to a battery-powered version equipped with a 59.2 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors. However, the same configuration is unlikely to reach Indian dealerships. Dimensions further reiterate its substantial footprint as it stretches 5,320 mm from bumper to bumper and rides on a 3,085 mm wheelbase. Width stands at 1,885 mm while overall height reaches 1,815 mm.

Toyota is widely speculated to introduce a new electrified MPV based on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC in the future while the next generation Fortuner has already been caught testing globally. Considering its popularity in the domestic market, it could make its way to local showrooms sometime next year.
