Nissan Tekton is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster and has unsurprisingly scored similar ratings in Bharat NCAP
The Nissan Tekton has secured a full five-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The official BNCAP certification applies to all the variants. Since the Tekton shares its platform, body structure and occupant protection package with the Renault Duster, BNCAP has certified it as a corporate twin of the Renault SUV while assigning identical crash test scores.
The Tekton earned 30.49 points out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45.00 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection tests – enabling it to receive five stars in both categories. According to the official BNCAP documentation, the vehicle tested had a kerb weight of 1,621 kg and was manufactured in India. Nissan also has intentions to export the Tekton from Oragadam plant.
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, occupant protection for the head, neck, pelvis and thighs was rated good while the chest, lower legs and feet received adequate protection. During the side impact assessment, protection for all critical body regions was rated good while the side pole impact evaluation also met the required safety standards.

For child occupant protection, the Nissan Tekton scored the maximum 24 out of 24 in the dynamic crash assessment and 12 out of 12 for Child Restraint System installation. The vehicle assessment portion contributed 9 out of 13 points – taking the overall Child Occupant Protection score to 45.00 out of 49 points – making it one of the safest midsize SUVs out there.
The impressive crash performance is backed by an extensive list of standard safety equipment. Every Nissan Tekton comes equipped with six airbags, ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, rollover sensor, emergency stop signal and front disc brakes.

Other highlights are speed-sensing automatic door locks, front seatbelt reminder, automatic hazard warning, pedestrian protection measures, side impact protection beams and a high-tensile steel body structure. High-spec trims further add a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite featuring Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Traffic Sign Recognition, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and many driver assistance functions.
The Nissan Tekton is available with two turbo petrol engine options. The T160 develops 100 PS and 166 Nm through a six-speed manual gearbox while the T280 makes 163 PS and 280 Nm coupled with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission. With prices ranging from Rs. 10.49 lakh to Rs. 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tekton takes on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, etc.
