Maruti Suzuki has gone past two lakh domestic sales and recorded its best ever monthly performance in May 2026
Maruti Suzuki has achieved a major milestone in the PV market by crossing the 2 lakh sales mark last month. The country’s largest carmaker reported total domestic sales of 2,00,774 units in May 2026 which include OEM supplies while the total passenger vehicle and LCV sales stood at 1,93,535 units. Combined with exports of 41,914 units, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer registered its highest-ever monthly sales performance of 2,42,688 units.
The achievement comes on the back of demand across multiple segments – particularly passenger cars and utility vehicles in the company and midsize segments. The domestic sales reached 1,90,337 units in May 2026 compared to 1,35,962 units during the same month last year with a massive 40 per cent increase. Including the Super Carry LCV, total domestic sales climbed to 1,93,535 units.
Models such as the Baleno, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Celerio and Ignis collectively recorded sales of 81,555 units – up from 61,960 units in May 2025 as the compact segment has really delivered for the largest car producer in the country. The Mini segment comprising the Alto and S-Presso also posted good growth with sales nearly doubling to 16,275 units compared to 6,776 units a year ago.

The utility vehicle portfolio continued to be a major growth engine for the company. Models including the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, XL6 and the recently introduced e Vitara registered combined sales of 79,267 units. The total resulted in a substantial increase over the 54,899 units recorded during May last year and shows the growing importance of SUVs and MPVs within Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio.
The overseas shipments also contributed significantly to the overall performance due to the Jimny, Baleno and others. It rose to 41,914 units from 31,219 units in May 2025 and sales to other OEMs stood at 7,239 units during the month. The appreciable momentum has carried into the new financial year as well despite the uncertainty surrounding fuel prices.
