Tata Intra V40 runs on CNG and petrol through a bi-fuel architecture with a CNG tank of 110 litres – supporting extended range between fuel stops
Tata Motors has today announced the launch of the Intra V40 in the domestic market – adding a new bi-fuel pickup to its small commercial vehicle portfolio and extending what it claims is India’s widest alternate fuel range in the segment. The Intra V40 runs on CNG and petrol through a bi-fuel architecture with a CNG tank of 110 litres – supporting extended range between fuel stops.
It is a practical consideration for operators running fixed routes where CNG availability may not be uniform throughout. The headline numbers are the 1,525 kg payload capacity and the 2,960 mm load body – both positioned as best-in-class figures for a CNG pickup at this segment level. The 1.2-litre engine kicks out 58 bhp maximum power and 106 Nm of peak torque.
It is tuned for last-mile cargo operations where low end pull and fuel economy matter more than outright performance. The hydroformed chassis underpins the vehicle bringing structural rigidity and refinement that Tata says translates to consistent real-world performance under load and it should appeal to a wide range of consumers.

The cabin gets a walk-through layout with car-like driving dynamics – one which is said to prioritise driver comfort during extended operating hours. Front disc brakes are fitted for improved control and safety as well and it is a much needed specification that goes well over what most vehicles in this payload category typically offer as standard.
With the Intra V40 launch, Tata Motors now covers the full small commercial vehicle and pickup segment through four bi-fuel products – the Ace Pro Bi-fuel, Ace CNG 2.0, Intra V20 Gold and the new Intra V40 – comprising different payload requirements and operating profiles. The homegrown manufacturer also has an expansive EV lineup.

On the electric side, the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV 1000 and Intra EV Pickup complete the alternate fuel portfolio giving fleet operators a choice across CNG, bi-fuel and electric depending on route requirements, fuel infrastructure availability and capital expenditure preference. In addition, Fleet Edge telematics integration enables real-time vehicle tracking, predictive maintenance alerts and uptime optimisation for fleet operators running multiple units.
The Sampoorna Seva 2.0 programme covers end-to-end lifecycle support from the Tata Motors dealer and service network – addressing the after sales reliability that commercial vehicle customers weigh as heavily as the initial product specification when making purchase decisions.
