Maruti Suzuki Brezza to get a refreshed design, a new engine, and an underbody CNG tank among various other upgrades soon
Introduced in February 2016 and now in its second generation, the Maruti Brezza is one of the company’s most successful SUVs on the market, with more than 10 lakh units sold to date. The compact SUV was fully redesigned in June 2022 and is set to receive a facelift next quarter.
Maruti Suzuki has already started testing the new Brezza on public roads ahead of launch, and test mules have been spied on multiple occasions by now. The updated model is likely to come with a number of visual changes to stay relevant in the market.
On the outside, the Maruti Brezza should receive tweaked headlamp graphics, restyled bumpers, and a new radiator grille and lower air intake grille. Maruti Suzuki will likely introduce new 16-inch alloy wheels and a new paint option also for the Brezza with the facelift. Inside, the company will likely redesign the dashboard and replace the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a larger, 10.1-inch unit.

A fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats with power adjustment on the driver side, and ambient lighting may also be introduced in the Brezza with the upcoming refresh. On the safety front, Maruti Suzuki could add Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems to the list of premium features available in the top trim.
The currently offered 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine options in the Brezza don’t allow Maruti Suzuki to take true advantage of the 18% GST rate applicable to petrol cars measuring not more than 4,000 mm in length and having an engine with a displacement of not more than 1,200 cc. With the facelift, the company is expected to introduce a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine option, which would qualify certain configurations for the lower GST rate.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine could produce 99 hp and 147.6 Nm of torque. We expect it to be offered with a choice of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. Another mechanical change will likely be the switch to an underbody CNG fuel tank, which frees up boot space and makes the Brezza CNG more practical for long journeys. The CNG variant should continue to be offered with the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine.
