MG Majestor uses a 2.0-litre twin turbocharged diesel engine producing an impressive 215.5 PS maximum power and 478.5 Nm of peak torque

MG will be looking to make a big impact in the full-size SUV space with the Majestor SUV as focus has been put on hardcore off-road capability and recent demonstrations along the Pattipulam coastline on Chennai’s East Coast Road have showcased exactly what it is capable of. Tackling loose sand and unpredictable beach terrain with ease, the Majestor will go on sale soon in India and its production version was unveiled recently.

The Majestor made its local debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. At the heart of the seven-seater lies a 2.0-litre twin turbocharged diesel engine producing an impressive 215.5 PS maximum power and 478.5 Nm of peak torque making it one of the most powerful offerings in its class.

The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and customers will have the option of choosing between 2WD and a more capable 4WD configuration depending on their usage requirements. The Fortuner rival holds significance for its advanced off-road hardware and comes equipped with a segment-first triple differential locking system.

It covers the front, rear and centre to enable maximum traction across uneven and slippery surfaces. Complementing this is a 4WD system with as many as 10 selectable driving modes – allowing the SUV to move through different terrains including sand, mud and rocky paths.

The inclusion of a dedicated crawl control mode further ups its capability by enabling precise low-speed manoeuvring over extreme conditions without driver intervention on throttle or brakes. The Majestor’s physical attributes bolsters its off-road credentials. With a ground clearance of 219 mm and a water wading capacity of up to 810 mm, it is said to be well-prepared to handle even flooded roads, deep ruts and off-road trails.
