In the table of top 10 compact SUVs in April 2026, Tata Punch led Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza
The compact SUV segment had a lively April 2026 with the top three models – Punch, Fronx and Nexon – separated by less than 1,000 units between first and third. Tata Motors led with two models in the top three while Hyundai and Kia both had strong months and the Brezza and Kylaq were the segment’s notable under performers.
The Tata Punch topped the chart with 19,107 units and a 52.9 per cent year-on-year jump as it endured the strongest growth rate among the top six and a reflection of how effectively the facelifted model has resonated with consumers. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx followed at 18,829 units – just 278 units behind.
Its volume sales grew 31.3 per cent year-on-year and held a 15.8 per cent segment share. The Tata Nexon completed the top three with 18,126 units – up 17.3 per cent – giving Tata a combined 37,233 units across its two compact SUV entries for the month of April 2026. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the most notable under performer in the top half.

Its sales fell 16.8 per cent year-on-year to 14,124 units. The impending facelift which has been extensively spotted testing could be keeping customers on the fence. The Hyundai Venue countered that narrative emphatically – posting 12,420 units with a 56.2 per cent year-on-year surge – its best-ever monthly figure courtesy of the recent launch of the heavily updated model and its 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
The Kia Sonet followed in sixth with 10,537 units – up 30.6 per cent – while the Hyundai Exter grew 49.5 per cent to 8,096 units at seventh. The Mahindra XUV 3XO held eighth with 7,517 units – virtually flat year-on-year at -0.7 per cent. The Skoda Kylaq had a difficult month dropping 23.8 per cent to 4,089 units from what was admittedly a strong base period.

Toyota’s Taisor, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger occupied the lower half with moderate but stable volumes. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny posted its strongest growth of the segment at 60.8 per cent to 693 units but absolute volumes remain small. The Kia Syros had the steepest decline in the table – down 86.2 per cent to just 554 units.
