SUVs fuel growth at Tata Motors in June 2026, with models like the Tata Punch and Tata Nexon in the lead

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) recorded solid growth in the domestic market in June 2026, with SUV models being the major contributors. The company shipped 62,076 cars to Indian dealers last month, 67% more than in the same month last year (June 2025: 37,083 units).

The Tata Punch led TMPV’s wholesale chart in June 2026, with 21,006 units dispatched. Compared to June 2025 (10,446 units), the homegrown automaker’s best-selling car saw its wholesale volume grow by 101%. The Tata Nexon was in the second position, registering 18,335 units, up 58% over the same month last year (June 2025: 11,602 units).

The Tata Tiago is seeing positive momentum following the second facelift that was introduced at the end of May. TMPV shipped 7,329 units of the city car last month, which marked a 22% year-on-year growth (June 2025: 6,032 units). The all-new Tata Sierra’s production remained limited despite high demand. The Hyundai Creta rival’s wholesale volume reduced by 3% over May (6,606 units), reaching 6,392 units.

The Tata Harrier saw a 135% year-on-year growth in June 2026, with volumes going up from 1,259 units to 2,962 units. It seems the introduction of the petrol engine option in January this year has improved demand. As for the model’s three-row version, the Tata Safari, TMPV shipped just 1,271 units last month. The Mahindra XUV 7XO rival saw a 38% year-on-year growth.

The Tata Altroz saw a 39% decline year-on-year in June 2026. While TMPV had dispatched 3,974 units of the Hyundai i20-rivaling premium hatchback in June 2025, it shipped 2,426 units last month. The Tata Curvv was also in the red, with wholesale volume down 15% year-on-year. TMPV dispatched only 1,753 units of the Tata Nexon-derived SUV-coupe last month, as compared to 2,060 units in June 2025.

Tata Harrier Petrol (3)

The Tata Tigor has long been TMPV’s most poorly performing model in the market, and that remained unchanged in June 2026. The company shipped just 602 units of the Tata Tiago-derived sub-4 metre sedan last month. Compared to June 2025, when it had dispatched 788 units, this marked a 24% decline in wholesale volume.
