Supply chain issues severely impact Hyundai’s vehicle production in India in June 2026, particularly its best-selling model, the Creta
Hyundai, one of the largest car manufacturers in India, shipped 39,635 cars to local dealers in June 2026. The company saw a 10% decline in volume over the same month last year (June 2025: 44,024 units). Rather than a drop in demand for its cars, Hyundai’s decline in factory dispatch last month was due to production issues.
A fire at one of its key local suppliers, Mobis, which took place on 31 May, impacted the supply of audio systems and other key components. While Hyundai said it would arrange for an alternative supplier, it noted that production of vehicles would normalise only by 22 June. Hyundai later said that supply chain issues led to a production loss of about 13,900 vehicles in June 2026. Thus, had it not faced the problem, its production volume would have been around 53,500 units, up approximately 22%.
The Hyundai Creta is the brand’s best-selling model in India and typically takes the top spot in dispatches. June 2026 was different, though, with the Hyundai Venue ranking no. 1 with 10,776 units. The sub-compact SUV saw a 57% year-on-year growth. The Hyundai Creta’s volume declined 55% year-on-year, from 15,786 units to 7,168 units, bringing it to the third position.
