New Audi A6 Allroad has gained a significantly wider stance and upgraded chassis technologies along with plug-in hybrid power for the first time
Audi has unveiled the fifth generation A6 Allroad with substantial changes to one of its recognisable estate-based adventure models. It has gained a significantly wider stance and upgraded chassis technologies along with plug-in hybrid power for the first time in the nameplate’s history as customers can now opt for a new PHEV variant pairing a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor.
Combined output stands at 367 PS and 500 Nm while a 25.9 kWh battery enables up to 95 km of electric-only driving under the WLTP cycle. Audi claims a full AC charge at up to 11 kW can be completed in roughly two and a half hours. The brand also gives the option to choose the 3.0-litre V6 TDI. Producing 299 PS and 580 Nm, the engine works alongside Audi’s latest MHEV Plus system comprising a belt starter generator, powertrain generator and electrically driven compressor.
Additional electric assistance of up to 24 PS helps sharpen responses. The diesel version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds while the plug-in hybrid requires 5.5 seconds. While the powertrains grab attention, the biggest visual change comes from the body itself. For the first time, the A6 Allroad gets a substantially revised design. Compared to the standard A6 Avant, overall width grows by more than 110 mm.

Flared wheel arches, rugged lower-body cladding, revised bumpers and distinctive hexagonal detailing separate it from the regular estate. Ground clearance has also increased noticeably. Audi says the Allroad sits 34 mm higher than the standard A6 Avant while adaptive air suspension comes as standard. Drivers can raise or lower the vehicle depending on terrain and driving conditions with dedicated off-road modes unlocking additional ride height and revised traction settings.
A special lift function further elevates the body for challenging surfaces. Chassis technology has received equal attention. Rear-wheel steering is part of the package as well improving maneuverability while boosting stability at higher speeds. Depending on vehicle speed, the rear wheels can turn opposite to or in the same direction as the front wheels while Quattro all-wheel drive remains standard across the range.
