Courtesy of the India-UK FTA agreement, JLR has officially reduced the prices of the Range Rover SV and the Range Rover Sport SV by up to Rs. 75 lakh

JLR India has announced a significant repricing of its Range Rover CBU models imported from the United Kingdom in anticipation of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement coming into effect. The price reductions apply immediately and cover two models – the Range Rover SV and the Range Rover Sport SV – both of which are manufactured in the UK and imported as completely built-up units.

The Range Rover SV sees the steeper cut – dropping Rs 75 lakh from Rs 4.25 crore to Rs 3.50 crore. Alongside the price reduction, JLR India has also elevated the model’s value proposition by making SV Ultra Metallic paints in both Gloss and Satin finishes standard equipment for the first time – an addition that would previously have carried a premium.

The Range Rover Sport SV moves from Rs 2.75 crore to Rs 2.35 crore – a Rs 40 lakh reduction that JLR says significantly consolidates its market positioning at this price point. The revised pricing shows the new duty structure enabled by the India-UK FTA and applies only to models manufactured in the United Kingdom.

Locally manufactured models such as the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar and Discovery Sport at JLR’s Pune facility will not see any price changes as a result of the FTA. The Defender and Discovery will also maintain their existing pricing as both are manufactured in Slovakia and therefore fall outside the scope of the UK-India trade agreement.

The announcement is notable for its timing. JLR India has moved ahead of the FTA’s formal implementation choosing to pass on the anticipated duty benefits to customers immediately rather than waiting for the agreement to be officially ratified. It is a customer-facing signal that the brand is confident the FTA will go through as expected and is willing to back that confidence with immediate price action on two of its most aspirational products.

For consumers who have been considering the Range Rover SV or Sport SV, the revised prices enable a huge reduction – Rs 75 lakh and Rs 40 lakh respectively and bring both models closer to a wider set of luxury buyers in India without diluting the exclusivity that the SV badge is meant to represent.
