Hyundai has confirmed that it will introduce a new midsize SUV and a localised compact EV in India this financial year

Three decades into its India chapter, Hyundai Motor India Limited relishes the evolving nature of the domestic market on the back of a successful tenure last FY. The company wrapped up FY2025-26 with consolidated revenue of Rs. 707,633 million and a 2.3 per cent rise over the previous year while maintaining an EBITDA margin of 12.2 per cent.

The final quarter of the fiscal year was particularly strong. Its Q4 revenue came in at Rs. 189,162 million – climbing 5.4 per cent compared to the same period last year and 5.2 per cent against the preceding quarter. The brand’s wholesale volumes in the local market rose 8.7 per cent year on year during Q4 – a performance the company attributes to a combination of GST 2.0 policy support and timely product interventions.

Rural market penetration hit 25 per cent for the final quarter – the highest ever recorded by the company pointing to a genuine deepening of reach beyond India’s metropolitan centres. Its CNG-powered vehicles also hit a record quarterly contribution of 18 per cent. The Aura sedan, often overshadowed by the company’s SUV portfolio, quietly posted its best ever sales numbers both for the quarter and the full financial year.

On the manufacturing side, FY26 marked a structural milestone with the commencement of operations at Hyundai’s Pune facility. The new Venue, the first vehicle to roll off that plant, has performed well in the market and picked up a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating along the way. Despite a geopolitically complicated global environment, Hyundai India grew its export volumes 9.4 per cent in Q4 and closed FY26 with a full-year export growth of 16.4 per cent.

The Board has recommended a dividend of Rs. 21 per share which is equivalent to 210 per cent of face value. The company has also confirmed that two entirely new nameplates are planned – one targeting the competitive midsize SUV space and another marking Hyundai India’s entry into locally produced dedicated electric vehicles in the compact SUV segment.

The domestic and export volume growth of 8 to 10 per cent is being targeted across both channels – backed by a capital expenditure commitment of around Rs. 7,500 crore. The EBITDA margins are expected to hold within the 11 to 14 per cent guided band.

Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg pointed to April 2027 domestic volumes already running 17 per cent ahead of last year as early confirmation that the momentum is real. He also confirmed that the Pune facility will be expanded by a further 70,000 units following Phase II – taking total manufacturing capacity to 1.14 million units annually by 2030.
