New BYD Atto 3 sits on a new e Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and gets upgraded Blade Battery technology and optional lidar based driver assistance systems
China has just received the third generation version of the electric crossover sold there as the Yuan Plus and the update is much more than skin deep. A refrigerated storage compartment, rear seat drawers and even a dedicated tissue holder are part of the latest BYD Atto 3’s cabin. The new Atto 3 has officially gone on sale in four variants.
They are priced between 119,900 yuan (Rs. 16.86 lakh) and 149,900 yuan (Rs. 21.08 lakh) in their home market. Along with refreshed styling and a more feature packed interior, BYD has introduced its new e Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, upgraded Blade Battery technology and optional lidar based driver assistance systems for the first time on the crossover which is also available in India.
Dimensionally, the SUV now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,770 mm. The exterior evolves BYD current Dragon Face design direction with slimmer headlamps, a flatter nose section and cleaner surfacing. A full width rear lighting setup with woven detailing stretches across the tailgate while semi concealed door handles help improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Storage capacity has also increased. Up front sits a powered 180 litre frunk featuring knock activated opening functionality while the rear luggage compartment can accommodate up to 750 litres. BYD is also offering the crossover in nine paint finishes including multiple dual tone combinations. The cabin has received a substantial overhaul compared to the outgoing model.
A larger floating touchscreen running the latest DiLink interface is at the centre of action while the steering wheel switches to a cleaner two spoke layout. The gear selector has now moved behind the steering wheel helping free up additional console space. Top-spec trims receive features such as heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, 50W wireless charging pad, panoramic head up display and a 16 speaker audio setup.

BYD has also added a powered front passenger relaxation seat complete with extendable leg support. Other additions include hidden storage areas beneath the rear seats, dedicated spectacle holders and additional compartments spread across the cabin. The new Atto 3 now gains a rear wheel drive layout instead of the earlier front wheel drive configuration as well.
Power comes from a rear mounted electric motor producing either 200 kW (268 hp) or 240 kW (322 hp) depending on the variant selected. Battery choices include 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh second generation Blade Battery packs paired with BYD latest flash charging technology resulting in the range figures stand at 540 km and 630 km respectively under the CLTC cycle.
Suspension duties are handled through MacPherson struts at the front and a five link arrangement at the rear while DiSus C adaptive damping, iTAC 2.0 torque management and tyre blowout stability control are also offered. Select variants can additionally be equipped with the DiPilot 300 advanced assistance package featuring lidar and 30 sensing devices. The system supports urban navigation assist, highway assistance and automated parking functions.
