Minor product intervention with low-cost cosmetic upgrades aimed at keeping the Maruti Eeco seem still fresh on the market
Launched in January 2010, the Maruti Eeco is the oldest car in the company’s line-up today and has clearly started to show its age. While it continues performing well in the market despite its average aesthetic appeal, being a utility vehicle, Maruti Suzuki has rolled out a small update to make it seem slightly more interesting.
A new Star Edition package allows customers to buy the Maruti Eeco with a more stylish exterior and interior. Maruti Suzuki offers 19 upgrades in this package for a price of Rs. 19,999, which represents a savings of Rs. 17,001. Without the package, these upgrades would set one back by Rs. 37,000.
The Maruti Eeco Star Edition is available only in Metallic Glistening Grey and Metallic Brisk Blue colours. Unlike the standard model, which is also available in Bluish Black, Solid White, and Metallic Silky Silver colours, it features body-coloured bumpers instead of the black bumpers. However, Maruti Suzuki says that the bumpers are painted in the body colour by the dealership.

The other 18 upgrades are all accessories, including but not limited to fog lamp garnish, a rear spoiler, door visors, wheel covers, mud flaps, chrome model emblem, wood trim on the dashboard, and steering wheel cover. Maruti Suzuki has restricted the availability of the Star Edition package to the 5-seat version and AC trim.
The Maruti Eeco Star Edition can be purchased in both petrol and CNG variants. Under the hood, there’s the K12N 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 60.5 kW (81 hp) and 105.5 Nm of torque running on petrol and 52.7 kW (71 hp) and 95 Nm of torque running on CNG. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 5-seat passenger van delivers a fuel economy of 19.1 km/l (petrol variant)/26.78 km/kg (CNG variant).

The normal Maruti Eeco retails at Rs. 5,53,800 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC petrol configuration and Rs. 6,35,800 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC CNG configuration. This means that the Maruti Eeco Star Edition should cost Rs. 5,73,799 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC petrol configuration and Rs. 6,55,799 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC CNG configuration.
