2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to go on sale in the coming months featuring notable updates on the inside and addition of new equipment
Ten years since it first arrived and kickstarted the compact SUV revolution in India, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is once again in the news – this time with new spy shots revealing one of its most practically significant updates yet. A test mule has been caught with what appears to be an underbody CNG tank, confirming what had been rumoured for a while.
The underbody CNG tank is perhaps the most significant change in the entire package. In the current model, the cylinder sits inside the boot, eating into luggage capacity and making the CNG variant a less practical choice for family use. Moving it beneath the floor would bring the Brezza CNG’s practicality in line with competition from the likes of Tata Nexon which boasts a dual-cylinder setup.
In addition to the CNG update, the five-speed manual gearbox is expected to give way to a new six-speed unit. The 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine is set to continue producing 102 bhp and 137 Nm while the CNG variant is expected to retain its 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm outputs. Earlier speculation around a 1.2-litre three-cylinder or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol could be wide of the mark.

Visually, the changes are expected to be modest as they could be restricted to revised alloy designs, tweaked body cladding and possible lighting updates. Dimensions remain identical at 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall on a 2,500 mm wheelbase with 198 mm of ground clearance.
Inside, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen is expected to replace the current 9-inch unit building on an already capable package that includes a heads-up display, 360-degree camera and SmartPlay Pro Plus. Six airbags, ESP and Hill Hold Assist will continue to be standard.

With prototypes appearing frequently and testing seemingly in its final stages, a market launch within the next few months looks increasingly likely. The five-seater will continue to compete with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Skoda Kylaq and the likes.
