In the coming 6-7 months, Hyundai and Kia will introduce multiple new models in the ICE as well as EV segments in India
The South-Korean brand Hyundai recently completed a journey of 30 years in the Indian market. The company announced plans to roll out 26 new models and variants for India by FY31, which will include both ICE-powered cars and EVs. Similarly, Kia, yet another South-Korean player, is planning to expand its product portfolio in our country by launching multiple new models in the ICE as well as EV segments. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 4 upcoming Hyundai and Kia cars launching in India in FY27.
1. Kia Syros EV
The Syros EV, touted as the second locally made Kia electric car after the Carens Clavis EV, is confirmed to debut in July 2026 in the Indian market. While the 7-seater Carens Clavis EV is on the higher side of pricing, Kia Syros EV is all set to become the company’s most affordable electric car in India as it rivals Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and MG Windsor EV.

Built on the K1 platform of Hyundai Inster, it will come with a front wheel drive system. The upcoming Kia electric SUV has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. We expect the e-SUV to borrow the 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs from the Inster while returning a maximum driving range of 369 km on a full charge. The cabin will boast of dual 12.3-inch touchscreens for driver’s digital display and central infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front and rear seats.

2. Hyundai New Electric SUV
It will be a completely new nameplate as Hyundai will not launch the EV version of its existing ICE models which it has practiced in the past with the Creta SUV. It will be locally developed at the brand’s Sriperumbudur factory in Tamil Nadu as it rivals Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, MG Windsor EV and the upcoming Kia Syros EV.

Due to heavy localization, which includes local sourcing of even the battery pack from Exide, Hyundai’s new electric SUV could be priced between Rs 12-16 lakh (ex-showroom). Internally codenamed as HE1i, it will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform, which we have seen in the Inster EV in global markets. It will also carry the same 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs with a highest range of 369 km on a single charge.
3. Kia Carnival Hybrid
The Korean brand will introduce the hybrid version of the Carnival MPV in the Indian market via the CBU route. It will be equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine and parallel-hybrid system. This powertrain setup will be linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine-gearbox combination is presently offered on the US-spec version of the MPV.

Kia Carnival hybrid sold in the American market delivers top power of 272 hp and peak torque of 367 Nm. The standard mileage is rated at 14 kmpl. The hybrid model is offered in 7-seater and 9-seater configurations. However, the India-spec model is likely to be a 7-seater MPV with a similar powertrain setup. Presently, the Carnival is sold only with a diesel engine.

4. Hyundai Bayon Mid-Size SUV
Hyundai will launch the Bayon SUV in India in the coming 6-7 months in the Indian market. It will be positioned between Creta and Venue in the brand’s portfolio in India. The India-bound Hyundai Bayon will measure around 4.18 meters in length, as confirmed by Tarun Garg – CEO & MD of Hyundai India at the Q4 FY2026 earnings conference call.

Though powertrain details are scarce at the moment, we have learnt that the upcoming Hyundai midsize SUV will be rolled out with a naturally aspirated petrol engine and also a bi-fuel petrol-CNG engine. The CNG models will come with a dual-cylinder setup to ensure a bigger boot capacity. Stay tuned to this page for more updates on the same.
