Hero-Harley alliance looks to bring in a host of new premium motorcycles to India and more products are planned to be shipped abroad
The partnership between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp is heading into a larger product phase centred on new motorcycles, overseas shipments and profound manufacturing cooperation in India. The American manufacturer plans to use Hero’s facilities and distribution reach for an expansive range of entry-level motorcycles and cruisers developed for domestic as well as international markets.
The upcoming Harley-Davidson Sprint is expected to open the next launch cycle later in the current financial year. The additional motorcycles planned after the Sprint could cover several price points in the premium category but both companies have not divulged specific information on the products yet. The future range may also feature motorcycles sold abroad for the first time after production begins in India.
The Neemrana facility in Rajasthan is expected to play a big role in the expanded programme. The Hero MotoCorp plant could manufacture high capacity motorcycles for Harley-Davidson alongside future jointly developed models. The Indian production base would allow the American brand to lower entry costs in several markets while improving access to customers through Hero distribution channels.

The existing cooperation has already produced the Harley-Davidson X440 and its derivatives as well as the Hero Mavrick 440. The X440 was the first motorcycle developed jointly by the two companies while the Mavrick 440 used the same mechanical bits under Hero branding. A while ago, the Harley-Davidson X440T joined the lineup as well.
The sales contribution from the joint platform has helped Hero MotoCorp establish a notable position in the 350 cc to 500 cc segment. The company sold 14,375 motorcycles in the category during the previous financial year and secured a share of around 11 per cent. The volume placed Hero behind Royal Enfield and Bajaj Auto in the segment while providing a base for further premium launches.

The retail network supporting the premium portfolio is also expanding through dedicated outlets. The company now operates more than 130 premium showrooms and the count is rising as new locations open. The outlets are intended to house Harley-Davidson motorcycles alongside select Hero products positioned at the upper end of the range.
The deeper partnership comes after a difficult period for Harley-Davidson across global markets. The company recorded a 40 per cent reduction in worldwide retail volumes between 2019 and 2025 while margins and dealer earnings also weakened during the same period. The push for more accessible motorcycles and established platforms intends to improve volumes without relying only on high-end models.
