BMW M440i xDrive Convertible is sold via CBU route and it uses a 3.0L engine developing 374 hp and 500 Nm
Open-top motoring at its most potent is the pitch BMW India is making with the launch of the all-new M440i xDrive Convertible. It is now available in India as a completely built-up import priced at Rs 1.09 crore (ex-showroom). Under the bonnet sits BMW’s B58 inline six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine developing a maximum power output of 374 hp and 500 Nm of torque – figures that make it the most powerful car in its segment.
A 48V mild hybrid system accompanies the petrol unit. The sprint from 0 to 100 kmph is dispatched in 4.9 seconds and top speed is rated at 250 kmph. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters while BMW’s all-wheel drive system manages traction and stability across different surface conditions.
An M Sport rear differential, adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering and M Sport brakes with red-painted callipers round out the performance package. The defining feature of any convertible is its roof and the M440i uses a panel bow soft-top that combines the structured feel of a hardtop with traditional fabric hood aesthetics.

It can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50 kmph. On the outside, the BMW M440i boasts adaptive LED headlights with M Lights black tint dominating the front and are flanked by a vertically arranged kidney grille in high gloss black. At the rear, CSL-style tail lights with a laser etched woven pattern draw direct inspiration from the M4 CSL while an M diffuser in glossy black anchors the lower bumper.
The new 19-inch M light alloy wheels in a bi-colour double-spoke design complete the exterior. Eight colour options are available namely Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, Cape York Green, Fire Red, Arctic Race Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Alpine White with further individualisation available on request. The cabin can be specified with Sensatec upholstery in Black, Tacora Red or Cognac.

The cockpit is built around BMW’s large Curved Display – a 14.9-inch unit in association with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. The latest iDrive Operating System 8.5 handles the interface complemented by the BMW’s Personal Assistant with self-learning capability. Wireless smartphone integration, Digital Key Plus, Remote Software Upgrades and the MyBMW app are all part of the package.
A Harman Kardon surround sound system with 12 speakers takes care of the audio side. The M leather steering wheel features a flat-bottomed rim and paddle shifters as standard while the perforated Sensatec sports seats offer electric adjustment, memory and lumbar support. Driver assistance systems include a Parking Assistant with 360-degree surround view and a Reversing Assistant that records the last 50 metres of travel and takes over steering when reversing out of tight spaces.

Safety equipment covers six airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control and tyre pressure monitoring among others. BMW also offers a smart finance plan with an assured buyback of 63 per cent after three years or 10,000 km with options to bundle in service and warranty packages within the financing arrangement.
