Prices of the Triumph Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X & Thruxton 400 have been increased in India by up to Rs. 5,000

The smallest price increase has gone to the motorcycle that still carries the strongest brand recall in Triumph India’s entry lineup. The Speed 400 now costs Rs. 2.34 lakh ex-showroom Delhi after a Rs. 2,000 revision while three other 350 cc models have received slightly steeper hikes.

Triumph has updated prices for the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400 XC and Thruxton 400 after the change to smaller displacement engines earlier. The revised price list places the Speed T4 at Rs. 1.99 lakh, Scrambler 400 XC at Rs. 2.94 lakh and Thruxton 400 at Rs. 2.70 lakh – all figures ex-showroom Delhi.

The Speed T4 sees a Rs. 4,000 increase and this revision is more important than the number suggests. This is the first upward price move for the T4 after the brand introduced the downsized 350 cc range under the revised taxation structure introduced late last year. The motorcycle did not receive the same reduction earlier when Triumph moved from the larger 399 cc setup to the new 350 cc format.

With the latest change, the 350 cc Speed T4 now costs more than the older 399 cc version sold a few months ago. It now produces 29 hp and 31 Nm, lower than the earlier 398 cc engine output of 31 hp and 36 Nm. The Speed 400 sits above it with a stronger tune.

Its 350 cc engine develops 37 hp and 32 Nm – down from the previous 400 cc version output of 40 hp and 37.5 Nm. The Scrambler 400 XC uses the same 37 hp and 32 Nm tune but now carries the joint highest hike in this update at Rs. 5,000. The Thruxton 400 also receives a Rs. 5,000 increase and now sits at Rs. 2.70 lakh.

It runs the most powerful state of tune among the updated models listed here – producing 40 hp and 32 Nm. The same output is used by the newly introduced Tracker 400 as well. Prices for the Tracker 400 and Scrambler 400 X have not yet been revised on the official Triumph India website. Their updated figures are expected later.

The latest revision narrows the value gap created after the 350 cc transition. Triumph still retains a wide spread of models from retro roadsters to scramblers and cafe racer inspired machines but the Speed T4 now draws closer to the Speed 400 while the Scrambler 400 XC edges nearer to the Rs. 3 lakh mark.
