2026 Honda City Facelift

Honda shows serious commitment to the mid-size sedan segment and the Indian market with a comprehensive second refresh for the fifth-gen City

The fifth-generation Honda City is getting a second facelift on 22 May. Just days ahead of the launch, the updated version’s test drive units have started arriving at dealerships, new spy shots have revealed.

The latest spy images have fully exposed the exterior and interior of the 2026 Honda City, revealing more substantial design changes than those introduced with the first one in 2023. Following the second facelift, the exterior looks a whole lot different from the original fifth-gen model, first seen in 2019.

The new Honda City has a sleeker and sportier front-end, with hints of global models like the India-bound Honda Prologue and the Honda Accord. Honda has fully redesigned not just the headlamps, grilles, and bumpers, but also the hood, which indicates the company has taken a serious effort in this refresh beyond the norm.

The headlamps are slimmer and look more aggressive. They feature new, split daytime running lights positioned on the top. In line with the industry trend, Honda has introduced a light band between the headlamps, positioned at the same height as the daytime running lights of the latter.

The brand logo lies ahead of the leading edge of the hood instead of on the radiator grille, which is a new black panel featuring honeycomb-shaped openings. The front bumper and lower air intake also have a new design, while front fog lamps have been omitted. On the sides, the 2026 Honda City features new 16-inch alloy wheels in a sporty design similar to the 17-inch alloy wheels Volkswagen offered on the pre-facelift Taigun 1.0 TSI. At the rear, the combination lamps carry over the old design, but in a new, transparent housing for a sportier styling.

A new bumper with a split A-shaped grille-like cutout features a honeycomb-shaped pattern, mimicking the styling at the front. Honda has replaced the horizontal light reflectors with vertical ones and positioned them along the edges of the bumper.

The interior design of the new Honda City is largely the same. The centre console has been revised, with the cupholders now positioned ahead of the gear selector, where the outgoing model has the wireless charging pad. Honda has introduced new front seats with three-stage ventilation and a new floating touchscreen infotainment system. The latter has an aftermarket-like appearance due to its noticeable protruding placement outside the dashboard, and its steep upward tilt could impact visibility because of light reflections.

Unlike the outgoing model, the new one has a 360º camera system, which should make parking much easier and safer. There won’t be any changes to the 1.5-litre petrol engine, offered with 6-speed MT and CVT options. The same goes for the hybrid variant, also based on a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
