Tata Altroz CNG AMT has been made available in Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S and Accomplished S trims in India
Tata Motors has consolidated the Altroz range in India with the launch of the Altroz CNG AMT – making it the first premium hatchback in the country to offer an automatic transmission with a factory-fitted CNG powertrain. Prices for the new variant start at Rs. 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and go up to Rs. 10.76 lakh for the top-spec trim.
Courtesy of the new addition, the homegrown manufacturer has given customers more buying options accompanying the petrol and diesel options across multiple transmission choices. The Tata Altroz CNG AMT is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron CNG engine developing a maximum power output of 73.5 PS and 103 Nm of peak torque in CNG mode.
For the first time, the engine is now paired with an AMT gearbox. Tata says the setup has been brought in to deliver a smoother and more relaxed driving demeanour without compromising fuel economy. One of the key highlights continues to be Tata’s twin-cylinder CNG technology as the arrangement helps liberate boot volume.

Unlike conventional CNG setups, the dual cylinders are placed beneath the luggage compartment floor allowing the Altroz to retain a usable 210-litre boot space even in CNG form. For reference, the petrol and diesel versions offer a boot capacity of 345 litres. The system also uses a single advanced ECU enabling easy switching between petrol and CNG modes while supporting direct start in CNG mode.
On the outside, the 2026 Tata Altroz CNG AMT carries forward the updated styling seen on the latest Altroz. The premium hatchback gets flush-fitting door handles, connected LED tail lamps, LED headlamps with DRLs and sporty exterior detailing. The cabin features a soft-touch dashboard along with executive lounge-style rear seats.

The equipment list comprises twin 26.03 cm digital displays for infotainment and instrumentation supplied by Harman, ambient lighting and a comprehensive safety package. Built on the ALFA platform using high strength steel construction, the Altroz continues to hold a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Safety features include six airbags, ESP, ISOFIX child seat mounts and reverse parking sensors as standard. Higher trims additionally offer bits such as a 360-degree HD surround-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps and LED fog lamps. It is worth noting that the Altroz remains the only hatchback in India to offer a diesel engine while also being the first in its category to introduce twin-cylinder CNG technology.
