MG used Beijing 2026 to debut the updated MG4, preview the upcoming MG4X with a semi-solid battery as standard and pull the covers off the MG07
Morris Garages used the Beijing Auto Show 2026 as a platform to present its latest electric vehicle developments with the updated 2026 MG4 making its debut alongside the announcement of the upcoming MG4X global launch and the unveiling of the MG07 flagship coupe. The 2026 MG4 arrives in six variants with a range of design and other updates.
The new exterior colour options include Ice Crystal Blue and Almond Beige along with a black floating roof and 17-inch Starry aluminium alloy wheels. MG has also tied up with pop artist Jacky Tsai and the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts to offer artistic customisation options in order to position the MG4 as a lifestyle offering there.
The cabin has been upgraded with front seats offering heating, ventilation, massage and memory functions. The cockpit features an 8-inch driver display and a 15.6-inch 2.5K ultra-high-definition central touchscreen with wireless CarPlay connectivity and OPPO smart cockpit integration. Driver assistance systems have also been expanded with nose-in parking, DIY custom parking and dead-end parking capabilities added to handle complex scenarios.
On the technical side, the MG4 continues to incorporate cell-to-body integration, an integrated thermal management system and a semi-solid battery. The model has been averaging over 10,000 units in monthly sales globally, ranking among the top three in its segment and has accumulated over 80,000 customers worldwide since its launch.
Expanding the MG4 family further, the MG4X is set for its global debut in May 2026. Even the entry-level variant of the MG4X will come equipped with a semi-solid battery and rear-wheel drive with a five-link independent rear suspension as standard – a specification level that MG is positioning as a new benchmark for value in the A-segment electric SUV space.
The MG07 was the other significant reveal at Beijing. Positioned as the brand’s flagship model in the coupe segment, it will be offered in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid configurations. MG announced a strategic partnership with autonomous driving company Momenta at the event with the MG07 set to be among the first production vehicles to integrate the Momenta R7 solution.
The system combines a reinforcement learning-based world model with the XHEART X7 large model chip enabling urban Navigate on Autopilot and a parking-space-to-parking-space driving experience. In addition to conventional driver assistance, the Momenta R7 system is designed to anticipate risks and execute defensive driving strategies through physical scene understanding and predictive reasoning.
