New Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets exterior and interior enhancements along with the addition of new features and a larger battery pack
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the updated Ioniq 5 in the country today priced at Rs 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The revised model brings a larger battery pack, updated exterior and interior styling, new connected technology and additional safety features as it looks to garner more volume sales in the domestic market.
The biggest change on the new Ioniq 5 is the shift to an 84.0 kWh battery pack, which now delivers an ARAI-certified range of 690 km between charges. The improvement will likely help reduce range anxiety on longer trips. The electric vehicle continues to ride on Hyundai’s advanced EGMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) base.
On the outside, the Ioniq 5 retains its distinctive Parametric Pixel design language but gets updated front and rear bumpers, new skid plates at both ends, a set of revised alloy wheels, a new rear spoiler and an updated V-garnish lighting element at the rear. The cabin receives a new three-spoke leather steering wheel featuring a four-dot illuminated pixel design with a heating function.

The centre fascia has been redesigned and the wireless smartphone charging pad has been updated as well with integrated physical controls for the heated and ventilated seats – a practical change that removes the need to navigate through menus for commonly used functions. The dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment screen carry over from the previous model.
On the technology front, the updated Ioniq 5 gets a Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system and Controller Over-the-Air update capability allowing the car’s software to be updated remotely. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are on board, as is Active Sound Design. A new in-car payment feature allows drivers to pay for EV charging directly through the infotainment screen without needing a separate app or card.

Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car suite now includes a remote immobilisation function for added theft protection. Safety upgrades on the new model include Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist at the rear and Side Parking Distance Warning – both of which add to the existing suite of driver assistance features. The updated Ioniq 5 is offered in four exterior colours namely Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey and Optic White – paired with an Obsidian Black interior theme.
Commenting on the new launch, Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “The Hyundai IONIQ 5 stands as a true testament to our vision of redefining electric mobility. Having secured the prestigious World Car of the Year title along with multiple global accolades and being recognised as the Green Car of the Year at Indian Car of the Year Awards, the IONIQ 5 has set new benchmarks in design, technology and sustainability. With its strong global success and positive customer response across key markets, including India, the IONIQ 5 has played a pivotal role in shaping Hyundai’s electric mobility journey.”
