Hyundai Ioniq 3 will be offered in a 42.2 kWh standard range unit and a larger 61 kWh long range pack with the claimed range going up to 496 km

Hyundai Motor Company has hosted the global debut of the all-new Ioniq 3 in Europe with a new “Aero Hatch” body style. At the heart of the Ioniq 3 lies Hyundai’s dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and it utilises a 400-volt architecture. Customers will be able to choose between two battery pack options: a 42.2 kWh standard range unit and a larger 61 kWh long range pack.

The former delivers a projected WLTP driving range of 344 km while the latter is expected to stretch close to 496 km on a single charge. Performance figures are equally noteworthy for a compact EV as the front-wheel-drive setup produces up to 147 PS or 135 PS power depending on the variant along with 250 Nm of torque.

The Ioniq 3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.0 seconds in its standard range guise or 9.6 seconds using a larger battery before reaching a top speed of 170 kmph. It boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.263 – one of the lowest in its class. The e-hatch supports DC fast charging – allowing the battery to be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in around 29 minutes for the standard variant.

It only takes 30 minutes for the long range version. AC charging is rated at 11 kW as standard with an optional 22 kW setup available and the EV also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices. The Ioniq 3 gets Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design philosophy with clean and sculpted surfaces inspired by the natural behaviour of sheet metal.

It is combined with signature pixel lighting elements, four central dots that subtly represent the letter “H” in Morse code, a low-slung nose, a long and straight roofline and a sharply tapered rear section. Dimensionally, the Ioniq 3 measures 4,155 mm in length (4,170 mm for the N Line variant), 1,800 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height while riding on a 2,680 mm wheelbase.

These proportions allow Hyundai to extract maximum interior space despite the compact footprint. The cabin follows a “Furnished Space” layout where elements are arranged like furniture to create a more welcoming and practical environment. The flat floor design ensures generous legroom while the rear seat is capable of accommodating three adults according to the brand.

Despite being a hatchback, the Ioniq 3 offers a total luggage capacity of 441 litres which includes a 322-litre primary boot and an additional 119-litre underfloor storage. The interior also features a combination of recycled and bio-based materials inspired by natural landscapes and retro Italian furniture design from the 1970s.

Depending on the variant, buyers can opt for features such as relaxation seats, heated and ventilated seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a BOSE premium sound system. The Ioniq 3 becomes the first Hyundai model in Europe to debut the new Pleos Connect infotainment system as well – built on Android Automotive OS (AAOS).

It is offered with either a 12.9-inch or a larger 14.6-inch display delivering sharp graphics, connectivity and extensive customisation options. Additional features include Hyundai Digital Key 2 for smartphone-based access, Plug & Charge capability for effortless charging and an integrated EV route planner. The Ioniq 3 is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense technologies including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), Memory Reverse Assist (MRA), Surround View Monitor (SVM) and Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM).

These systems are complemented by seven standard airbags and advanced lighting technologies such as projection LED headlamps with Intelligent Front Lighting System (IFS) and dynamic welcome lighting. The model has been specifically developed to appeal to European customers and it will be produced at Hyundai Türkiye’s Izmit facility.

In terms of customisation, customers will have access to exterior colours including Atlas White Solid, Phantom Black Pearl, Lumen Gray Pearl, Aurora Gray Pearl, Vibrant Blue Pearl, Ice Blue Pearl, Fierce Red Solid and Fierce Red Matte. Interior themes include Black, Beige/Gray, Blue/Gray and a sportier Black with red accents for the N Line variant while wheel options range from 16-inch to 19-inch designs.
