Updated Renault Kiger Launched, Turbo MT Now Starts At Rs. 7.89 Lakh

New Evolution+ trim joins Energy and Turbo lineups of the Renault Kiger while the Techno Turbo variant now gets a manual gearbox option

Renault India has revised the Kiger range by adding four new variants across naturally aspirated and turbo petrol powertrains. The update gives the sub-4m SUV a new Evolution+ trim and also expands manual gearbox availability in the Turbo lineup. Prices now start at Rs. 5.81 lakh for the Energy manual range and Rs. 7.89 lakh for the Turbo manual (all prices, ex-showroom).

The biggest change is the arrival of the Evolution+ variant. The trim has been added to the Energy manual, Energy AMT and Turbo manual grades. Renault has placed it between the Evolution and Techno variants so customers now get a more VFM option carrying additional equipment without moving to the higher trims.

The Renault Kiger Evolution+ gets features such as Smart Access Card, push-button start/stop, driver seat height adjustment, wireless smartphone replication, automatic climate control and light embossed fabric upholstery. The same equipment set is available on the new Evolution+ variants across both powertrain choices.

Renault has also added a manual gearbox to the Techno Turbo variant. Earlier, the Turbo lineup had fewer choices but the latest update takes the turbo petrol count from three to five variants. The Kiger Turbo manual is now priced from Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and Renault says it is the lowest priced turbocharged petrol SUV available on sale in the entry B-SUV category.

The naturally aspirated portfolio has also grown from six to eight variants. The Energy manual range now has Authentic, Evolution, Evolution+, Techno and Emotion variants. The Energy Easy-R AMT is available in Evolution, Evolution+ and Techno trims helping the SUV to appeal to a wide band of consumers in the affordable spectrum.

The Kiger continues to use two petrol engine options. The Energy versions use the naturally aspirated 1.0L petrol engine coupled with a five-speed manual or an AMT. The Turbo versions use the 100 PS 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, hooked with either a manual or an X-Tronic CVT options based on the variant.

Renault also lists a 205 mm ground clearance, 405-litre boot, 29 litres of cabin storage, 222 mm rear knee room and 710 mm front couple distance for the Kiger. The SUV also gets functional roof bars rated for a 50 kg load. The variant upgrade will look to appeal to those wanting added equipment in the lower and mid variants across both engine choices.

The Turbo manual range now starts below Rs. 8 lakh while the new Evolution+ trim gives Renault another variant in the price gap between the entry and upper versions.
