New Kia Seltos Achieves 5 Stars In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

In the latest round of Bharat NCAP crash test assessments, new-gen Kia Seltos impressed with an Adult Occupant Protection score of 31.70 out of 32 and a Child Occupant Protection score of 45 out of 49

The Kia Seltos has delivered an impressive performance in the latest 2026 crash safety assessment – putting it right at the top of its segment. With an Adult Occupant Protection score of 31.70 out of 32 and a Child Occupant Protection score of 45 out of 49, the Seltos has come extremely close to a perfect rating.

Starting with adult safety, the Seltos has performed exceptionally well across all major tests. In the frontal offset crash, it scored 15.70 out of 16 while the side impact test returned a full 16 out of 16. The scores show appreciable structural integrity and effective restraint systems enabling high levels of protection for occupants in real-world crash scenarios.

Child safety is equally impressive as well for the new generation Kia Seltos which was launched less than three months ago in India. The Seltos managed a full 24 out of 24 in dynamic testing and a perfect 12 out of 12 in child seat installation assessment. The only area where points were dropped was in the vehicle assessment category where it scored 9 out of 13.

Even then, the overall result of 45 out of 49 highlights a well-rounded approach to child occupant protection. A big contributor to this performance is the long list of standard safety features. The SUV comes equipped with front airbags, side curtain airbags and side chest airbags as standard across variants. Electronic Stability Control, seat belt reminders and pedestrian protection systems are also included as standard.

However, there are a few omissions worth noting. Knee airbags and side pelvis airbags are not offered and ISOFIX mounts are limited to the second-row outboard seats. While these don’t significantly impact the overall score, they are areas where further improvements could be made. The tested model included variants powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it had a tested weight of 1,771 kg.

The rating applies across a wide range of petrol and diesel variants. Thanks to top-tier adult and child protection scores backed by a comprehensive safety package, the midsize SUV has become one of the safest cars money can buy right now.
