The mid-size segment enjoys enormous popularity among the masses as it accounts for the majority of the SUV sales in the Indian market. Several leading automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Kia, Skoda, MG Motor, Toyota and Mahindra offer mid-size SUVs in our country. Now, we have learnt that more new models will be launched in this segment within this financial year. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 5 upcoming midsize SUVs launching in India in FY27.
1. MG Hector Hawk PHEV & EV

The British brand is all set to expand its SUV portfolio by launching the Hector Hawk PHEV on July 16, 2026 in the Indian market. Based on the global-spec Wuling Starlight 560, it is likely to be rolled out in both Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (EV) versions. The PHEV model will come with a 1.5L naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. On the other hand, the all-electric SUV will get a 56.7 kWh battery pack with driving range of 500 km on a full charge. Apart from the standard 5-seater version, a 7-seater configuration could also be introduced at a later stage.
2. New-Gen Hyundai Creta

Internally codenamed SX3, the next-gen Creta will be sitting on the new K3 platform as it is being readied for a market launch around early 2027 in India. Recently, the mid size SUV was spied during the cold-weather high-altitude testing in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Some of the notable elements in the new-gen model include zero-gravity seat button, multi-link rear suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels among others. Mechanically, it will continue to carry the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.5L turbocharged petrol engines. All these engines are likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
3. Kia Seltos Hybrid

Kia will debut its first strong hybrid vehicle in the form of the Sorento later this year in the Indian market. And, the same hybrid engine will be borrowed by the Seltos as it prepares for an early 2027. The ongoing model’s naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine will be hybridised with a dual electric motor and battery pack setup. It has been learnt that the Seltos hybrid will offer a fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl. The South-Korean brand is aiming to heavily localize the hybrid engine components to keep the costs down.
4. Renault Duster Hybrid

Renault Duster will join the bandwagon of strong hybrid SUVs (Maruti Victoris, Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder) in India later this year around the festive season of Diwali. It will be rolled out with a naturally-aspirated 1.8L four-cylinder petrol engine, two electric motors, and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The combined power output stands at 160 hp and 172 Nm. The power will be transmitted to the wheels via a multi-mode automatic gearbox. The design, features and other components will be shared with the regular version of the Duster.
5. Honda Elevate Facelift

The 2026 Elevate facelift was spotted testing last month for the first time. The SUV is expected to get minor visual updates such as redesigned headlamps, tweaked bumpers and refreshed tail-lamp cluster. The cabin could get a fresh upholstery while modern features could make their way in the new SUV like ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and the latest version of ADAS suite. It could also boast of a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. At the heart, it will house the same 1.5L petrol engine as the outgoing model with 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. The power and torque figures will remain unchanged.
