In the list of top 10 compact SUVs in June 2026, Tata Motors’ duo of Punch and Nexon headed the way ahead of Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Tata Motors dominated the sub-four-metre SUV segment in June 2026 as the Punch retained the top position with 21,006 units. The micro SUV more than doubled its volumes compared to June 2025 by registering 101.1 per cent year-on-year growth while accounting for 19.1 per cent of the segment.
The Nexon secured second place with 18,335 units by posting a healthy 58 per cent increase and giving Tata two models at the very top of the standings. The Fronx continued its healthy run by finishing third after recording 13,135 units – up 33.8 per cent over the corresponding month last year as it was the most sold Maruti Suzuki SUV in the local market.
The Hyundai Venue occupied fourth position with 10,776 units by improving 57.1 per cent year-on-year. The Mahindra XUV 3XO rounded off the top five after reporting a domestic tally of 10,063 units with 42 per cent annual growth. The biggest surprise among the leading models came from the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which slipped to sixth place despite recording 9,939 units.

The compact SUV witnessed a 31.5 per cent decline compared to June 2025 – allowing several rivals to narrow the gap. The Kia Sonet followed closely behind in seventh position after posting 9,231 units and registering a healthy 38.6 per cent year-on-year increase. Hyundai’s Exter also enjoyed a positive month as volumes rose 38.8 per cent to 8,154 units.
The Skoda Kylaq stayed put its encouraging run of form after securing ninth place with 4,039 units – 26.4 per cent YoY growth over June 2025. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor completed the top ten after recording 2,483 units – improving by 3.1 per cent year-on-year. Outside the top ten, the Nissan Magnite recorded 1,167 units – registering an 11.1 per cent decline compared to last year.

The Kia Syros could only manage a total of 790 units while the Renault Kiger slipped to 689 units, down 8.7 per cent year-on-year. Maruti Suzuki’s lifestyle-focused Jimny ended the month with 354 units – a 4.6 per cent decline.
