Besides Model Y L, Tesla has announced the the arrival of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive for India
Tesla has commenced customer deliveries of the recently introduced Model Y L in India as it has added a three-row electric SUV to its growing domestic portfolio. The launch consolidates Tesla’s appeal helping it to compete in a more aggressive manner than before against rivals such as BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV6, BMW iX1 LWB and Volvo EC40.
The Model Y L has already entered the market at Rs. 61.99 lakh and becomes the flagship version of the Model Y range in India. As opposed to the standard configuration, the new variant gets a dedicated three-row cabin layout with six individual seating positions. Tesla says the vehicle has been engineered around greater interior flexibility while also offering substantial luggage carrying capability.
A major attraction of the Model Y L is its driving range. Tesla claims a WLTP-certified figure of up to 681 km on a single charge – placing it among the electric SUVs with the highest driving range currently available in the country. Performance remains a key part with the electric powertrain enabling a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 5.0 seconds.

Meanwhile, the cargo carrying ability stands at up to 2,539 litres when seating configurations are adjusted. For greater accessibility, Tesla has introduced multiple financing options. The Model Y L can be purchased through a finance package featuring monthly installments beginning from Rs. 49,990 – subject to financing approval and applicable terms.
The company states that entry into ownership can begin with a down payment of around Rs. 6.50 lakh. Alongside the new six-seater, Tesla has also announced the arrival of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive. Positioned below the Model Y L, the new iteration is priced at Rs. 50.89 lakh and deliveries are scheduled to commence from next month in India.
The SUV accommodates five occupants and provides up to 2,138 litres of storage capacity. Tesla quotes a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km while acceleration from zero to 100 kmph takes 5.9 seconds. The Premium Rear-Wheel Drive variant also receives a dedicated finance programme. Monthly instalments start from Rs. 39,990 with an initial contribution of around Rs. 6 lakh.
Tesla notes that the Model Y L and Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive have achieved top ratings across multiple international crash testing and safety assessment organisations. These comprise NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand and C-IASI in China.
The manufacturer currently operates service and body repair facilities in Mumbai, Gurugram, Delhi and Pune. Additional facilities are scheduled to open during the current quarter across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad. Remote diagnostics, over-the-air software updates and connected vehicle technology are a central part of after-sales strategy according to them.
