Tata Nexon

In April 2026, Tata Motors garnered a domestic total of 59,000 units as against 45,199 units with a YoY surge of 31 per cent

Tata Motors’ total domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 59,000 units in April 2026 with a 31 per cent year-on-year surge over 45,199 units sold during the corresponding period twelve months ago but down 11 per cent sequentially from March 2026’s 66,192 units. The Punch and Nexon together accounted for over 63 per cent of total April sales – 19,107 and 18,126 units respectively.

The Tata Harrier’s 151 per cent year-on-year jump to 2,545 units from just 1,012 units in April 2025 was the highest growth rate in Tata’s lineup last month – a number that shows both the impact of the Harrier EV’s arrival and the renewed interest the updated lineup has generated in the SUV space over the last several months.

The Punch grew 53 per cent year-on-year from 12,496 units – continuing its run as Tata’s highest selling model. The Nexon followed with 17 per cent year-on-year growth from 15,457 units in April 2025. Both models dipped 9 per cent sequentially from March which is consistent with the industry pattern of April changes following retail pushes at the end of the previous FY.

The Sierra made its presence felt with 7,316 unit sales in April 2026. Since its return to the market in ICE guise, the five-seater has been well received by consumers and its lineup will be consolidated with the inclusion of an electric version within the next two months. The sequential decline of 19 per cent from March’s 9,003 units is worth noting for the new model.

The Altroz was one of the quieter positive stories of the month growing 19 per cent year-on-year to 2,586 units and posting a 10 per cent sequential improvement from 2,344 units in March. The Safari added 1,467 units – up 9 per cent year-on-year while the Curvv continued to struggle with a 55 per cent year-on-year decline to 1,403 units.

The Tiago and Tigor had difficult months on both counts. The Tiago fell 34 per cent year-on-year to 5,488 units and 23 per cent sequentially while the Tigor slipped 26 per cent year-on-year to 962 units as demand for compact sedans continues to drop across the board due to customers increasingly migrating to SUVs.
