Two new sedans and two new SUVs expected to be launched by Skoda and Volkswagen by the middle of 2027
Volkswagen Group’s core brands in India, Skoda and Volkswagen, have been on a new product offensive since last year, having launched several new imported and locally manufactured models. The duo still has at least four new models in the pipeline, all expected to be introduced within a year.
Later this month, Skoda will launch the Kodiaq RS, one of its most expensive and performance-oriented SUVs globally. The Kodiaq RS sports a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 216 hp and 400 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system work together to send drive to the wheels.
The Kodiaq RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds and achieves a top speed of 231 km/h. Skoda offers it in 5- and 7-seat versions internationally, but it may only bring the latter to India. While it locally assembles the regular Kodiaq from imported knocked-down kits, it will import the Kodiaq RS as a CBU.

Sometime in the third quarter of the year, Skoda will likely launch the facelifted version of the Slavia. The mid-cycle refresh is likely to bring a new, illuminated radiator grille, full-LED headlamps and tail lamps, restyled bumpers, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. Interior improvements should include an upgraded AC and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The car’s optional 6-speed automatic transmission will likely be replaced with an 8-speed unit, marginally improving its fuel economy.
Soon after the Skoda Slavia, the VW Virtus will get a facelift. The Volkswagen model will also gain full-LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. It may also feature a light band connecting the headlamps. Inside, one can expect a more powerful AC, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a massage function in the rear seat to be among the main upgrades.

In the second quarter of 2027, Volkswagen could launch a compact SUV similar to the Tera sold in Latin America, but one based on the MQB A0 IN platform shared with Skoda’s Kylaq. This model will likely feature a more dynamic exterior compared to its corporate cousin, but should have largely the same features and components. It could be offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
