Nissan Tekton expected to be launched at around Rs. 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in May, followed by a three-row SUV around the end of the year
Nissan’s resurgence plan in India is set to begin soon with a re-entry into the country’s hot mid-size SUV segment. The company will launch a new model called the Tekton as the successor to the Terrano, which it discontinued in mid-2020.
The Nissan Tekton will be inspired by the Japanese automaker’s legendary Nissan Patrol, now in its seventh generation and under consideration for launch in India. Nissan has almost entirely revealed the exterior through teasers. High ground clearance, muscular bodywork, and contemporary design elements will give the Tekton a good balance of old-school and modern SUV attributes.
At the front, there will be rectangular, sleek headlamps with angular DRLs connected via a light band. Two horizontal slats over the radiator grille will stretch across the width, tipping the headlamps. The bonnet will feature power domes, and the bumper will have a sharp look.

On the sides, the Tekton will have pronounced wheel arches, a strong shoulder section, and 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. A ‘Double-C’ shaped accent featuring a Himalayan-inspired mountain motif will be another interesting design element here, located on the front doors. At the rear, there will be C-shaped tail lamps connected via a lightbar.
The interior should have a modern-tough theme, combining a modern layout and design with rugged touches in key areas such as the dashboard, door panels, and centre console. The cabin will likely be loaded to the brim with premium equipment, including a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, 6-way power-adjustable front seats with manual lumbar support and ventilation, and a panoramic sunroof.

Nissan will likely bundle more than 15 advanced driver assistance systems as well, including lane keep assist, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, active emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control with stop & go, and a 360º camera system. Six airbags should be standard.
At launch, the Tekton will likely be available with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine linked to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission featuring a wet clutch. The former should produce 100 PS (99 hp) and 166 Nm of torque, and the latter will likely develop 163 PS (161 hp) and 280 Nm of torque. A hybrid system based on a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine may follow early next year.
