Mercedes-Benz GLE & GLS Night Edition Launched At Rs. 1.05 Crore

Production of the Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS Night Edition will be in limited quantity for India; gets notable updates

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the GLE and GLS Night Edition as a limited series with restricted unit availability priced from Rs 1.05 crore for the GLE 300d up to Rs 1.43 crore for the GLS 450d (ex-showroom). India ranks among Mercedes-Benz top global markets for both models which has secured the country a dedicated allocation from what is a globally restricted production run.

Both models arrive with a blacked out exterior treatment across two colour options – Obsidian Black and Alpine Grey with the latter exclusive to the Night Edition and unavailable on any standard GLE or GLS variant. The interior receives black Nappa leather upholstery and Anthracite open pore oak wooden trim – both of which are absent from standard variants of either model.

A Head Up Display is fitted as standard across both Night Edition versions. The GLE Night Edition goes further than the GLS with one key addition – Airmatic air suspension fitted as standard. The system changes the ride character materially beyond the cosmetic and interior changes shared with the GLS version.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS Night editions come with two powertrain options. The 300d runs a 1,950 cc four cylinder diesel producing 198 kW and 550 Nm with a 0 to 100 kmph time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 230 kmph. The 450 petrol uses a 2,999 cc inline six producing 280 kW and 500 Nm – covering the same sprint in 5.6 seconds with a 250 kmph top speed. Both use a nine-speed automatic gearbox with 4Matic all wheel drive as standard alongside the air suspension.

The GLS Night Edition is offered with the same 2,999 cc inline six petrol at 280 kW and 500 Nm or a 2,989 cc inline six diesel producing 270 kW and 750 Nm – the highest torque figure across the entire Night Edition range. Both GLS variants cover 0 to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds with a claimed 250 kmph top speed.

The GLS holds the position of Mercedes-Benz India’s highest selling model in the top end luxury SUV segment and the GLE has maintained a loyal customer base across multiple model cycles. Both Night Edition models are available at Mercedes-Benz dealerships across India with immediate effect.
