Maruti Suzuki’s first electric MPV to be differentiated from its competition with a rugged exterior featuring an SUV-like styling
Soon after the launch of the Maruti e Vitara, its first electric model, Maruti Suzuki has started working on its second EV. The upcoming model will be a compact MPV rivalling the Kia Carens Clavis Electric and could go on sale in mid-2027.
Codenamed ‘YMC’, the upcoming Maruti EV will be designed for large families who prioritise space, practicality, and convenience above all. Maruti Suzuki has started testing the electric MPV on public roads, revealing several details about its exterior design.
The Maruti YMC will feature an SUV-ish character with an upright, high-set front that lends it a more confident stance compared to a typical MPV. The exterior shows some resemblance to the Maruti e Vitara, something particularly evident in the high-set, straight belt line and the shape of the wheel arches and roofline.

The upcoming electric MPV appears to feature curvy mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels in an aerodynamic design, both also similar to those of the e Vitara. The headlamps appear to have vertical extension below, while the tail lamps seem to carry an L-shape inspired by the Ertiga and XL6. Inside, the design will likely be quite similar to the e Vitara, especially the core elements such as the dashboard, centre console, and steering wheel.
Maruti Suzuki will likely offer the electric MPV with features such as a 10-way power driver’s seat, front seat ventilation, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, and more. The top trim will likely pack a host of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems as well.

The Maruti electric MPV will likely have two variants, both with a single permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels. The base variant should have a motor producing 142 hp and 193 Nm of torque and a 49 kWh LFP battery pack delivering a range of around 400 kilometres. The top variant will likely use a higher-output motor with 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque and a 61 kWh LFP battery pack that allows travelling up to around 500 kilometres on a single charge.
