Honda is ready to enter a space it has largely stayed away from with the ZR-V Hybrid bringing strong hybrid tech into the premium SUV space

The PV range of Honda in India has revolved around the City and Amaze sedans and the Elevate SUV for some time now. The ZR-V Hybrid is ready to become the company’s flagship SUV in the country – opening the door to an entirely different price bracket. Bookings have remained open since its India debut in May 2026 alongside the facelifted City while customer deliveries are scheduled to commence this month.

As opposed to Honda’s locally manufactured models, the ZR-V will arrive as a completely built-up import which goes on to show that the volumes are expected to stay limited. The approach also places the ZR-V against a different set of rivals. Expected to cost between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh, the hybrid SUV will compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Honda has confirmed four exterior paint options for the Indian market too.

Honda has confirmed only one powertrain for India – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine working alongside a dual-motor strong hybrid system. The combined output stands at 184 hp and 315 Nm which is channelled to the front wheels through an e-CVT automatic transmission. Honda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 172 kmph. It will return a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.80 kmpl.

Overseas markets also receive a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and an all-wheel-drive version but neither will be offered in India. The cabin retains dedicated switches and rotary controls for commonly used functions instead of shifting everything to the touchscreen. A 9-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay sits alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster while the centre console incorporates physical drive selector buttons and an electronic parking brake.

The equipment list also extends to dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, powered front seats, a powered tailgate, leatherette upholstery, front and rear centre armrests and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. Passenger protection has received equal attention. The ZR-V carries eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Level 2 ADAS functions.

The SUV measures 4,567 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height while the 2,655 mm wheelbase contributes to cabin space. The luggage compartment can accommodate up to 1,313 litres with the second-row seats folded. Its styling also stays away from trends seen on many recent SUVs but in an appealing manner for family audience.
