From Mahindra to Toyota, five brands likely to launch new 7-seat SUVs in India within a year, mainly targeting customers with big families
Following a barrage of mid-size SUVs over the last six months, the Indian auto market is set to receive several major seven-seat SUVs. Here are the five most anticipated 7-seat SUVs expected to arrive in India by early 2027:
1. New Mahindra Scorpio-N
The Mahindra Scorpio-N, launched in June 2022, will be getting its first facelift in the coming months. The rugged C-SUV is available in a seven-seat version as standard and a six-seat version as an option, and that’s likely to remain unchanged.

Spy shots suggest that the facelifted Scorpio-N will feature a new design for the radiator grille, lower air intake, and bumpers, as well as new headlamp graphics. Inside, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a redesigned dashboard will likely be among the main improvements. No mechanical changes are expected with the facelift.
2. Tata Safari.ev
Following the Harrier last year, it’s the Safari’s turn to get a pure electric variant this year. The Tata Safari.ev will be launched around October this year, and it will likely be offered in six- and seven-seat versions, with the latter being the standard offering.

Tata Motors will give a choice of a single-motor RWD variant and a dual-motor AWD variant, with the former packing 175 kW (235 hp) and 304 Nm of torque and the latter 291 kW (390 hp) of total power and up to 504 Nm (468 Nm as standard) of torque. A 65 kWh LFP battery pack should be standard in the former, with a 75 kWh LFP unit available as an option, while the latter will likely get the larger unit as standard. The Safari.ev may be capable of travelling up to around 600 kilometres on a single charge.

3. Renault 7-seat SUV

Renault is working on a new seven-seat SUV closely related to the all-new Duster and is likely to launch it at the end of 2026. The larger and more family-oriented model will likely be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 161 hp and 280 Nm of torque. A hybrid variant based on a 1.8-litre direct injection petrol will also be offered. While the all-new Duster has an off-road-oriented styling, the three-row model may have a rather elegant appearance.
4. Nissan 7-seat SUV

Nissan’s 7-seat SUV will be a corporate cousin of the aforementioned Renault model and should follow shortly after, in early 2027. It will likely feature a completely different, sharper exterior, but most of its interior should be nearly identical. Mechanically, there won’t be any major differences in the Nissan-badged family SUV.

5. Next-gen Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner will enter its third generation in the second half of the year and could arrive in India in the latest version in early 2027. The next-gen Fortuner will have a sharper exterior and a classier, noticeably more upmarket interior. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric power steering, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems are among the key upgrades expected. The engine and transmission options will likely be the same as the current model.
