In the table of top 10 most sold SUVs in April 2026, Tata Punch led the way while Maruti Suzuki Fronx moved up to second ahead of Tata Nexon
The 56 per cent year-on-year jump of Hyundai Venue to a record 12,420 units was arguably the most interesting number in April 2026’s SUV sales data as the model found its feet again on the back of the arrival of the new generation and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. Some models surprising on the upside while established names like the Creta and Brezza had a quieter time than usual.
The Tata Punch led the overall SUV chart with 19,107 units – up 53 per cent from 12,496 units in April 2025. Its ability to appeal across petrol, CNG and electric buyers gives it a breadth that few competitors can match at its price point. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx followed in second with 18,829 units – 31 per cent ahead of its April 2025 tally of 14,345 units.
It continues to be one of Maruti Suzuki’s consistent volume earners in the SUV space and moved up the standings last month. The Tata Nexon held third with 18,126 units by growing 17 per cent year-on-year from 15,457 units. However, the Hyundai Creta slipped to fourth at 15,291 units – down 10 per cent from 17,016 units during the same period last year.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was down more significantly – 17 per cent year-on-year to 14,124 units from 16,971 units with buyers likely holding back in anticipation of the facelift that has been caught on camera multiple times in recent months.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris finished in the seventh position with 13,701 units as it has been well received in its initial months already. The brand boasts a strong presence in the midsize SUV space now as the Grand Vitara is also recording good volume sales. The Kia Seltos and Sonet closed the top 10 at ninth and tenth with 10,566 and 10,537 units respectively.

The Seltos grew 72 per cent year-on-year from 6,135 units while the Sonet added 31 per cent over its 8,068 units in April 2025. The SUV segment is all set to witness a galore of action over the next couple of years as the competition will further intensify.
