New Audi SQ8 is slotted between the standard Q8 and the flagship RS Q8; uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol mill
Audi has expanded its high-performance SUV portfolio in India with the launch of the new SQ8, priced at Rs. 1.78 crore (ex-showroom, introductory). Sitting between the standard Q8 and the flagship RS Q8, bookings are already underway through Audi’s official channels and the myAudi Connect App with a token amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
Dimensionally, the SQ8 is a large luxury SUV measuring 5,004 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,708 mm in height with a 2,998 mm wheelbase. It offers a boot capacity of 604 litres which can be expanded up to 1,755 litres thanks to the flexible 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats – making it practical for long-distance touring as well.
Under the hood, the 2026 Audi SQ8 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 TFSI petrol engine that produces 507 hp max power and 770 Nm of torque. This places it slightly below the RS Q8 with a deficit of 133 hp and 80 Nm but still ensures strong performance credentials for everyday and spirited driving. Performance figures are equally impressive too.
The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.1 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Power is delivered through an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Upping its driving dynamics, the SQ8 comes equipped with adaptive air suspension sport as standard.
The system adjusts ride height and stiffness depending on driving conditions, while all-wheel steering improves manoeuvrability at low speeds and stability at higher speeds, making the large SUV surprisingly agile. On the outside, the SQ8 distinguishes itself with sporty design elements such as a matte silver Singleframe grille, large 21-inch alloy wheels, a quad-exhaust setup and a connected LED light bar at the rear.
It also features HD Matrix LED headlights with laser light and digital OLED tail lamps with configurable lighting signatures. Inside the cabin, the SQ8 features a 12.3-inch digital cockpit along with a dual-screen MMI infotainment system comprising 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch touchscreens.
The Valcona leather S sport seats come with heating, ventilation and massage functions and buyers will also get 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, powered tailgate, eight airbags, a 360-degree camera system with blind spot monitor, TPMS, Level 2 ADAS and more. It is sold with eight paint options namely Ascari Blue, Mythos Black, Daytona Grey, Glacier White, Chili Red, Waitomo Blue, Satellite Silver and Sakhir Gold.
