Maruti Suzuki sees strong traction for its entry-level cars and an overall positive momentum across segments in April 2026
India’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that it sold 2,39,646 vehicles in April 2026. This marked a new all-time high for the company’s monthly sales, along with a 33% year-on-year growth (April 2025: 1,79,791 units).
Maruti Suzuki saw a record-breaking performance in April 2026, primarily owing to strong growth in domestic sales. The company sold 1,91,122 vehicles through its showrooms in India last month, registering a solid 35% year-on-year growth (April 2025: 1,42,053 units). Most of this growth came from the company’s car portfolio.
Maruti Suzuki is seeing a spike in demand for its ICE cars with a length of up to 4,000 mm and an engine capacity of up to 1,200 cc (petrol)/1,500 cc (diesel), which can be attributed to the major GST reductions in September last year. Particularly, in the entry-level category comprising the Alto and S-Presso, the growth has been explosive. Maruti Suzuki sold 16,066 units of these cars combined in April 2026, recording a 154% year-on-year growth (April 2025: 6,332 units).
