Mahindra Thar Price Hiked By Up To Rs. 43,500; Variant-Wise Details Here

The entry-level variant continues with the same price while the top-end diesel automatic variant gets the maximum hike of Rs. 43,500

Mahindra & Mahindra, earlier this month, hiked the prices by up to 2.5 percent across ICE SUV portfolio in the Indian market. This upward revision in price, which came into effect from April 6, was necessitated due to cost escalations. Now, we have learnt that because of this price hike, one of the company’s most popular models, Mahindra Thar prices have gone up by up to Rs 43,500 in the domestic market. However, the base AXT 2WD 1.5L Diesel MT variant retains its original pricing of Rs 9.99 lakh with no increase at all.

The highest price increase of Rs 43,500 is received by the LXT 4WD 2.2L Diesel AT as it will now be available at Rs 17.62 lakh as compared to earlier pricing of Rs 17.19 lakh. The petrol-powered counterpart (LXT 4WD 2.0L Petrol AT) gets more expensive by Rs 41,500. It can now be availed at Rs 16.86 lakh against the previous price of Rs 16.45 lakh.

The LXT 4WD 2.2L Diesel MT and LXT 4WD 2.0L Petrol MT will now cost Rs 39,500 and Rs 37,500 more, respectively, than their earlier price. Both these models were previously retailed at 15.69 lakh and Rs 14.89 lakh, respectively. However, presently, the price of the LXT diesel and petrol grade stands at Rs 16.08 lakh and Rs 15.26 lakh, respectively.

Last but not the least, the LXT 2WD 1.5L Diesel MT and LXT 2WD 2.0L Petrol MT trims have witnessed a rise in prices by Rs 30,500 across the country. While the Thar 1.5L diesel LXT variant with 2WD had an existing price of Rs 12.39 lakh, the LXT 2WD 2.0L Petrol AT was sold at Rs 14.19 lakh. However, with revised pricing in effect, the LXT 2WD 1.5L Diesel MT and LXT 2WD 2.0L Petrol AT will cost Rs 12.69 lakh and Rs 14.49 lakh, respectively. All the prices mentioned in the article are ex-showroom.

Mahindra Thar is available in RWD as well as 4X4 configurations. In Oct 2025, the updated version of the Thar SUV was launched with new front grille, dual-tone bumpers, black theme dashboard, and six color options including Tango Red and Battleship Grey. The company also included rear AC vents, sliding armrest, dead pedal (AT), power windows, rear-view camera, and rear wash & wiper to the feature list.

Further, the range-topping variants were rolled out with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Type-C USB ports, Tyre Direction Monitoring System, and Adventure Stats Gen II. The engine options available with the SUV are 2.0L mStallion Petrol, 2.2L mHawk Diesel and D117 1.5L CRDe Diesel units while gearbox choices include 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
