Backed by strong demand for long-wheelbase cars, BMW Group reaches a new all-time high in the first half of 2026

BMW Group has set a new internal sales record for first-half sales in India. The company delivered 9,075 cars between January and June 2026, which marked a year-on-year growth of 17%. The German luxury automaker delivered 4,568 cars in the first quarter of the year and 4,507 cars in the second quarter. Much of its volume in the first half came from long-wheelbase models, which have been seeing strong traction in recent years.

BMW Group said that 4,428 cars, which means 49% of the total 9,075 units sold between January and June 2026, were long-wheelbase models. SUV was the most popular body style during this period, with 5,926 units sold. High-riding BMW and MINI models thus accounted for 65% of the total sales. Compared to the first half of 2025, SUV sales were up 35%.

MINI continues to remain a niche brand in BMW Group’s portfolio in India. Of the 9,075 cars sold in the first half of 2026, only 504 units were from the British brand. That said, MINI saw a significant rise in popularity, recording a 70% year-on-year growth in sales.

BMW Group is seeing strong growth for its electric cars in India. Of the total 9,075 cars sold in the first half of 2026, 2,359 units or 26% were electric models. This means one of every new BMW/MINI car sold in our market is now an EV. The company had a 69% market share in the luxury EV segment during this period.
