Mahindra to introduce two new body-on-frame SUVs in the coming months, followed by a more road-focused, monocoque SUV
Mahindra has been on a roll with electric SUV launches since last year, but now it is focusing again on ICE models. The company is likely to launch three new SUVs with petrol and diesel engine options in the next nine months. Sometime in the third quarter of this year, Mahindra could introduce the facelifted Scorpio-N.
The current model has been on sale since June 2022 and is due for a refresh. Spy images suggest the facelifted Scorpio-N will come with changes such as revised bumpers, redesigned headlamp and tail lamp graphics, new 18-inch alloy wheels, a new radiator grille, and a new lower air intake.
The interior of the new Scorpio-N is also expected to come with a host of changes, including a redesigned dashboard featuring horizontal centre AC vents, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The engines and transmissions are expected to be carried over from the outgoing model.

Not long after the Scorpio-N, it will be the Thar’s turn to receive a facelift. Mahindra has been testing the updated Thar on public roads for several months now, and spy shots snapped during this leg of development have suggested the company is planning to give the Thar the same look as the Thar Roxx. The new model would feature a new six-double-slot radiator grille, LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Features like electrically folding ORVMs, passive keyless entry, an auto-dimming IRVM, and ventilated front seats may also be added to the equipment of the Thar with the upcoming facelift. Mahindra is unlikely to roll out any mechanical changes, though. In the first quarter of 2027, Mahindra could launch the final iteration of the Vision.S concept.

This model will be a new monocoque compact SUV and be positioned between the XUV 3XO and the Thar in Mahindra’s line-up. Based on the NU_IQ platform, it will have a squarish exterior and a high ground clearance that gives it a proper SUV look. Inside, it will remain in character with an upright dashboard that integrates vertical AC vents.
The Mahindra Vision.S concept’s production version is likely to be offered with a choice of 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. At a later stage, there could be a hybrid system based on the former also on offer.
