Tata Motors aiming for a near-two-fold growth in sales, from 640,000 units in FY2026 to 1.2 million in FY2031

Tata Motors has been aggressively expanding its passenger car line-up and consistently rolling out refreshes and special editions in recent years. In the next five years, the company will continue this momentum with multiple new launches and updates for existing models to find further growth.

At its annual investor day held on 23 June, Tata Motors revealed that it plans to launch six new ICE models by March 2031. The company currently sells nine ICE models, meaning the new nameplates will expand the range to 15 products. It hasn’t said which of these products will be, but media reports have already talked about two of them.

There have been rumours of a new sub-4 metre boxy SUV that would challenge the likes of Renault Bridger and the production version of the Mahindra Vision.S concept. Codenamed ‘Tata Scarlet’, this model is expected to be introduced in 2027. There are rumours of an MPV as well, which could be based on the all-new Sierra’s ARGOS platform that can be utilised for vehicles measuring up to 4.6 metres in length.

Tata Motors has big plans for its EV business as well. The company currently offers six electric cars and is soon planning to launch the Sierra.ev. It will launch the first EV under the upcoming Avinya brand next, and two more EVs later. One of the two mystery models could be the rumoured Safari.ev, which reports say will arrive by around the festive season this year. The other one could be a derivative of the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV codenamed Scarlet. In total, Tata Motors aims to build a line-up of ten electric cars by March 2031.
