Hyundai will expand its SUV portfolio in the ICE and EV segments with the launch of new models in the next 9-12 months in India
Hyundai, on the successful completion of 30 years in India, recently announced that it will introduce a total of 26 new cars and SUVs by 2030 in the country. These new model launches, likely to take place in a phased manner with a gap of 3-4 months, will be backed by an investment of Rs 45,000 crores. As we head into the second half of 2026-27, we are going to witness at least three new Hyundai SUVs going on sale in the next 9-12 months in our country, which include both ICE and EV models. Let’s talk in detail about Hyundai’s upcoming cars in India by 2027.
1. New-Gen Hyundai Creta
The next-gen model of India’s most popular SUV is likely to break cover by the end of 2026 while going on sale in Q4 FY27 in major global markets, including India. Recently, it was spotted with heavy camouflage standing next to the current-gen Creta in Manali (Himachal Pradesh). The new-gen Creta will be bigger in size than the ongoing model to offer better interior space.

Underpinning Hyundai’s K33 architecture, new-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to be 4.5 metres in length. For those asking, the current version of the SUV is 4.33 metres long. The cabin will be inspired by the Ioniq EV series and the Palisade with a dual-screen setup. Apart from the 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines, it will debut with a strong hybrid powertrain setup with the naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine.

2. Hyundai Bayon-based SUV
The South-Korean brand will launch an all-new SUV to bridge the gap between Venue and Creta. Based on the Europe-spec Bayon crossover, it is likely to measure around 4.18 metres in length. We have learnt that it will be targeted at younger buyers with a highly premium and upmarket interior cabin. It might become the first Hyundai CNG-powered SUV with a length of more than 4 metres.

Hyundai Bayon-based SUV could launch by the end of FY27 (Mar 2026) in the Indian market. It will be offered with 1.2L turbo and 1.0L turbo petrol engines apart from the CNG version. The various media reports also claim that a hybrid powertrain setup could be introduced at a later stage. It might not be rolled out with a diesel engine, unlike the Creta and Venue.

3. Hyundai Compact EV
Internally codenamed as HE1i, it will be Hyundai’s first made-in-India electric SUV in the sub 4-m segment to challenge the dominance of Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. It will be designed, engineered and locally developed in India for domestic buyers. Based on the E-GMP (K) platform as the globally acclaimed Inster, it will be positioned below Creta EV in the Indian market.

Reportedly, Hyundai will source the 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs locally from Exide to keep the costs down and achieve a highly aggressive pricing. The maximum driving range could be around 500 km on a full charge. The upcoming Hyundai compact EV is likely to be compatible with 800V fast charging. It could be unveiled during the Diwali festive season around Nov 2026 while priced between Rs 12-16 lakh (ex-showroom).
