Kia India is all set to strengthen its product portfolio in the country by introducing multiple hybrid and EV models. The South-Korean automaker finished FY26 with a YoY growth of 13 percent with retail volumes of 2,89,035 units against 2,55,027 units in FY25. Some of the brand’s most popular vehicles in the Indian market include Seltos, Sonet, Carens Clavis and Syros. It also sells the Carens Clavis EV which is the only 7-seater all-electric model in the domestic market. Now, lets take a detailed look at the 3 upcoming Kia SUVs likely to launch in 2026-27.
1. Kia Syros EV
It will be the brand’s first mass-market affordable electric SUV in the Indian market. Slated to launch in Aug 2026, Kia Syros EV will be at loggerheads with Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Underpinned by the same K1 platform as its ICE sibling, the electric SUV has already been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads.
Apart from EV-specific updates, Kia Syros EV design will be identical to the petrol-powered version. It is likely to be equipped with 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs which we have seen in the global-spec Hyundai Inster. The all-electric SUV will come with a front-wheel-drive configuration. Kia Syros EV price in India could be in a range of Rs 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be locally developed at Kia’s factory in Andhra Pradesh.

2. Kia Sorento Hybrid
The three-row Sorento SUV is expected to go on sale in 2027 with a hybrid powertrain while positioned above the Seltos in Kia’s portfolio. Recently, it was captured on camera during its test runs with heavy camouflage on the Indian roads. Some of the notable design highlights visible in the test mule were dual-tone alloy wheels, raised roof rails and LED tail-lamp cluster.
Kia Sorento will borrow the hybrid powertrain from the Seltos, which is likely to debut later this year. Unlike the UK-spec strong hybrid model, which comes with a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system, the India-bound SUV will get the naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine from the Seltos with a hybrid setup. Kia Sorento Hybrid will rival Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq while estimated price could be between Rs 30-35 lakh (ex-showroom).

3. Kia Seltos Hybrid
Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, confirmed that Seltos hybrid will indeed be launched in the Indian market by late 2026. The existing 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine will be hybridised with heavily localised components for a highly aggressive pricing. The first-gen Seltos is already sold with a hybrid powertrain in the American market.
Kia Seltos hybrid design will be unchanged from the standard model. The cabin is also expected on similar lines with the same set of comfort and safety features, including Level 2 ADAS suite. The Seltos hybrid will also benefit from the upcoming CAFE 3 emission norms with enhanced compliance benefits. It will directly rival Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder in India.
