Kia planning to launch two derivatives and two all-new SUVs in India over the course of the next 18 months
Kia is testing four new SUV models in India, all planned to be launched by next year. The new products will help the company get closer to its mid-term target of clocking 410,000 units in annual sales and achieving a market share of 7.3% by 2030.
1. Kia Syros EV
Kia has been testing the pure electric variant of the Syros for a while now, and it plans to launch it in July 2026. The Syros EV would feature minor design tweaks for aerodynamic improvements, such as a smaller front grille and a cover securing the charging port in the left-side front quarter panel.
The interior of the Kia Syros EV will likely be nearly identical, with changes limited to the software of the dashboard displays and the colour scheme. The Tata Nexon.ev rival will likely be offered with two LFP battery pack options, with the larger unit delivering a range of 475-500 kilometres.

2. Kia Sorento Hybrid
The fourth-generation Kia Sorento sold globally is coming to India this year, and this Skoda Kodiaq rival will be the first model in its segment to be manufactured locally. Kia offers it in two- and three-row versions globally, but here it will likely only sell the latter. The company plans to launch it exclusively with a hybrid system, which could be a powertrain based on a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Kia will likely launch the Sorento Hybrid in India in the fourth quarter of the year.
3. Kia Seltos Hybrid
Kia has confirmed it plans to launch the Seltos Hybrid in India, and reports suggest the company will bring it to showrooms in early 2027. The Seltos Hybrid would use a combination of a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and an electric motor, both powering the front wheels. The company will likely target a fuel economy of around 25 km/l for its Renault Duster Hybrid rival.

4. Next-gen Kia Sonet
Kia recently started testing the next-gen Sonet also on public roads in India, and it will likely introduce the fully redesigned compact SUV sometime in the second half of 2026. The next-gen Sonet will likely be based on the Syros’ K1 platform and be much more spacious. A new E/E architecture will bring better connectivity options. Kia has confirmed a hybrid powertrain as well, but that will come in 2028 or 2029.
