Honda City facelift will get minor cosmetic updates and feature additions while the ZR-V will be brought into the country as a full import
Honda Cars India is expected to introduce two new products next month as both the City facelift and the new ZR-V SUV are scheduled to break cover simultaneously on May 22, 2026. The City has been facing a tough time in the midsize sedan segment steadily losing ground to feature-rich rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
The gap has been particularly noticeable on the features front. The 2026 facelift is Honda’s attempt to close the gap and re-inject momentum into one of its longest-running nameplates in India. Being the second update to the fifth generation City, the exterior changes are expected to be modest covering revised headlamps, tail lamps, bumpers and alloy wheels.
The interior is where more prominent work could be carried out. A larger touchscreen with updated software, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and an optional 360-degree camera are all expected to feature. However, powertrain lineup will remain unchanged as you might expect.

The 121 hp developing 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and the 126 hp hybrid units will be carried over – each paired with their existing manual and CVT gearbox options respectively. Sharing the stage with the City facelift will be the ZR-V and it was showcased in a dealer meet in its hybrid form quite a while ago in India as well.
Arriving as a fully built-up import, it will slot in as the brand’s flagship SUV and take on the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. Dimensionally, it measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height with a wheelbase length of 2,657 mm. It is mainly sold as the third-gen HR-V in North America. In Japan, China, Europe and several other parts of the world, it is branded as the ZR-V.

It acts as a distinct Civic-based SUV positioned between the global HR-V and the CR-V. It boasts rounded crossover proportions that distinguish it clearly from the more upright Elevate. Under the bonnet sits a 180 hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain coupled with an e-CVT. The equipment list comprises a freestanding infotainment touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, connected tech, a multi-functional steering wheel, powered driver’s seat, powered tailgate, premium upholstery, wireless charging, ADAS and so on.
