In the table of top 8 most sold MPVs in May 2026, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continue to finish ahead of Toyota Innova, Kia Carens Clavis and others
The MUV segment posted healthy growth again and this time in the month of May 2026. Maruti Suzuki remained the dominant force in the category as the Ertiga retained its position as India’s best-selling MUV. The popular seven-seater recorded sales of 20,350 units last month – registering a 26.1 per cent year-on-year increase and accounting for an impressive 45.1 per cent share of the entire segment.
In other words, nearly one out of every two MUVs sold in the country during May was an Ertiga. Toyota secured second position thanks to the combined performance of the Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta. The duo amassed 10,325 units with a 16.2 per cent increase over the same period last year.
Kia maintained its consistency in the people-mover space as the Carens and recently launched Clavis together posted sales of 6,208 units. The combined tally resulted in a healthy 37.2 per cent year-on-year growth. The arrival of the Clavis has further consolidated Kia’s position giving consumers an alternative with a more premium positioning while retaining the practicality expected from a family vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki occupied another place in the rankings through the XL6. Slotted in as a more premium alternative to the Ertiga, the XL6 recorded 3,770 units in May 2026 and posted 7.5 per cent growth. While volumes remain significantly lower than the Ertiga, the XL6 appeals to those seeking captain seats, SUV-inspired styling and additional premium features without stepping into a larger segment.
Toyota’s Rumion completed another solid month with sales of 2,119 units – up 10.5 per cent year-on-year. Sharing its underpinnings with the Ertiga, the Rumion has carved out a niche among customers preferring Toyota branding and ownership in a more affordable manner. Renault Triber remained the most affordable seven-seater in the rankings and delivered a notable performance among mainstream models.

Sales climbed to 1,890 units with a 33.9 per cent increase compared to May last year. At the premium end of the market, Maruti Suzuki Invicto registered 301 units – growing by 35 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the Toyota Vellfire posted the highest percentage growth in the segment as its sales jumped from just 29 units to 164 units with a massive 465.5 per cent increase.
