Tata, Mahindra, Toyota, Skoda & Nissan To Bring In New Midsize SUVs Soon

Nissan Tekton (2)

5 new midsize SUVs are set to launch in India in the due course of 2026 and here we have explained them

The Nissan Tekton is perhaps the most interesting new nameplate headed to the midsize SUV space this CY. Sharing the RGMP platform and powertrain lineup – 1.0-litre turbo, 1.3-litre turbo and petrol hybrid with the Renault Duster, it takes a visually independent route with design language drawn from the global Nissan Patrol.

Multiple test mule sightings confirm a launch in the second half of 2026 is firmly on track. The Skoda Kylaq Sportline is another addition worth watching as it will bring blacked-out exterior elements, contrasting accents and unique alloy wheels on the outside with an all-black cabin featuring red highlights inside. However, no mechanical changes are planned.

On the electric front, the Tata Sierra EV is arriving within the next three months. Two battery options are in the works with the larger unit expected to be carried over from the Harrier EV. A claimed range of over 500 km per charge and fast charging support are both likely giving it a strong hand against rivals in the competitive yet growing space.

The Ebella is Toyota’s main play for now in the electric midsize SUV space – built on the same Heartect-e platform as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara but wearing distinct styling inspired by the Urban Cruiser BEV Concept. Two battery options will be offered with the larger delivering a claimed 543 km of range per charge upon launch soon.

The Mahindra Scorpio N facelift is also due later this year. The exterior changes are expected to be minimal as a reworked grille, revised lighting and new alloy wheels are likely. The more substantive updates lie inside where a larger touchscreen, improved connectivity and refreshed upholstery are expected to bring the cabin up to speed against newer rivals.

As you might expect, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines carry over without any mechanical changes and a launch in the coming months looks likely given the frequency of camouflaged prototype sightings on Indian roads.
